The Skyview Drive-In, the St. Louis Metro area’s last Drive-In Movie Theater, announced plans for the observance of their Anniversary. The Skyview Drive-In has been in operation continuously for the last sixty-two years since it’s opening on July 8, 1949. The celebration will take place Wednesday, July 6 through Sunday, July 10, 2011.
There will be free miniature train rides and free hayrides all five nights. On Wednesday and Thursday evenings, we will roll back the admission price to the original cost of $ .60 for the drivers of the first 60 cars each night. On Friday and Saturday nights, Creative Sound Entertainment will spin tunes from all decades for your listening enjoyment. Put on your dancing shoes and join us on the patio. On Sunday evening, the admission price will be $10 per car.
Friday, July 8th will be Fox 2 Night at the Skyview. John Pertzborn is scheduled to be there to greet the customers. The evening will also be a night to remember the devastation of the Joplin, Missouri tornado. The Salvation Army will be there to collect donations of relief supplies. Items needed include non-perishable foods like canned fruits, vegetables, and meats; infant items like diapers, baby wipes and formula; sports drinks, batteries and personal hygiene items. Since this is Fox 2 Night, the Skyview Drive-In will donate $2 of each adult ticket to the Salvation Army for disaster relief in Joplin, Missouri.
The box office will open each night at 7:00pm with movies starting at 9:00pm. Screen #1 will show “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” and “Super 8” while Screen #2 will show
“Cars 2” and “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides”.
